Dong Fang Mei Ren (Oriental Beauty)

The only tea that requires insect damage. Green leafhoppers bite the leaves in summer, triggering the oxidation that creates its honey-muscatel character. Farmers cannot use pesticides: any spraying would kill the leafhoppers and ruin the tea.
