The Gaiwan

One vessel, no filter

The gaiwan has been in continuous use for roughly 400 years.

It requires no filter, no strainer, no infuser basket. Just a lid to hold back the leaves while you pour. Nothing to absorb or alter the flavour. The simplest tools are the ones that survive.
